Product Description

Our high-density EPDM sponge tape (120 kg/m³) is engineered for enhanced durability, delivering better performance than lower-density alternatives (80-90 kg/m³). This versatile tape excels in sealing, weatherproofing, and water resistance. Offering superior UV and ozone resistance, it helps prevent aging and cracking. The adhesive backing allows easy installation on various surfaces, making it ideal for gaskets, weatherstripping, and more.

Key Features:

  • Neoprene Alternative: Typically offers better UV resistance and long-term durability.
  • Water-resistant & Weatherproof: Provides excellent protection from environmental factors.
  • Resistant to Aging & Cracking: Designed for long-lasting performance.
  • Easy to Apply: Customisable and easy to install for a variety of applications.
  • Made in the UK: High-quality manufacturing.
  • Not for Electrical InsulationThis tape is not rated for electrical insulation and is not intended for use in high-voltage or live electrical systems.

Please note that 15mm thickness will be sent as 2x 5m rolls rather than a 10m roll.

Not for use in environments involving oils, aggressive chemicals, or other harsh substances. For specific use cases, we recommend thorough testing.

Uses:

  • Weather sealing / Cold door & window seals
  • Dust-proofing
  • Cushioning / shock absorption
  • Vibration dampening
  • Soundproofing and isolation
  • Automotive water seals
  • Thermal insulation
  • Speaker cone surround
  • General gasketing applications

Not for use:

Electrical Insulation: This tape is not suitable for use as electrical insulation in any application, including high-voltage or live electrical systems. It does not meet electrical insulation standards and should not be used in environments where electrical safety is a concern.

High-Temperature Applications: While this tape is temperature resistant, it is not designed for extreme high-temperature environments such as those involving direct contact with hot surfaces or equipment.

Critical Safety Components: This product is not intended for use in critical safety systems or as a substitute for certified safety materials.

Not for use in environments involving oils, aggressive chemicals, or other harsh substances. For specific use cases, we recommend thorough testing.

Key Properties:

Made from high-density EPDM rubber, this tape features a closed-cell structure that releases low VOCs and demonstrates excellent resistance to ozone, diluted acids, and alkalis. It maintains good temperature resistance up to 80°C and adapts well to uneven surfaces, offering exceptional aging properties without becoming hard or brittle over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does your EPDM tape compare to neoprene tape?

A: EPDM tape and neoprene tape are both popular for sealing and insulation, but they have some key differences. EPDM tape offers superior resistance to aging, UV rays, ozone, and weathering, making it an excellent choice for outdoor and long-term applications. Neoprene, while also durable, is generally less resistant to these factors, especially UV rays, which can cause it to crack over time. EPDM also has a broader range of temperature resistance and is less likely to degrade when exposed to harsh environmental conditions. For applications where durability, weatherproofing, and longevity are crucial, EPDM is often the better choice.

Neoprene tape can be a better choice in certain situations, particularly where resistance to oils, greases, and certain chemicals is required. Neoprene has excellent resistance to petroleum-based products, making it ideal for use in automotive, marine, and industrial environments where exposure to oils or fuels is common. While EPDM excels in outdoor, weather-resistant applications, neoprene is often preferred in environments with frequent exposure to oils, solvents, and chemicals.

In summary, while both materials have their strengths, for most outdoor and weather-resistant applications, our EPDM tape provides superior performance and longevity.
